Yercadu
Yercadu , one of the Finest Hill station in Salem District of Tamilnadu, India . For a Fact it is also called as " Poor Man's Ooty" Why ? because it is very similar to Ooty as they say and in terms of Money , it is cheaper.The meaning of Yercadu is "Lake Forest".There is trees , plenty of them every where you go , which surely brought so much calmness in me. As you go up the place to reach the highest point of Yercadu which is called as "Pagoda Point" you would find Pepper trees everywhere, as well as Orange trees.One of the coolest fact about this place is that the temperature has never crossed 35 degree , isn't that cool .It's real hot in Chennai , so this fact is extra cool for me.
Best way to reach the place is Government buses from Salem bus station as you would be able to enjoy the scenic beauty in a slow motion at a certain height and you will surely be safe as the Driver drives the Bus real slow and with lot ,lot and lot of caution.If you go through your own transport like Car , drive safe , and you wont be able to stop anywhere on the way until you reach the actual destination as the paths are real narrow , you have 20 Hair Pin Bends and they are just wow . You would also come across Loads of Cute Monkeys on the way, who just carry the don't Care attitude until you bother them.
You have plenty of Options to stay , so choose wise .You wont be inside your hotel room for long as the picturesque beauty wont let you stay in.Weather wont make you feel tired so explore the places. Life is slow and relaxed here , Life starts as early as 5:00 am or 6:00 am in the morning , but totally shuts down by 10 PM to the maximum. You can reach places like Restaurant by walk after 9:00 PM or arrange your transport before itself.It's always better have your dinner by 9:00 PM to avoid any sort of later tensions of transport .

Lady Seat
History : No , it is not the place where Ladies used to play , lady’s seat is a rock in the form of a seat on the hills that overlooks the Salem town as well as the beautiful Curvy roads. The natives believe that a white English lady of earlier days used to spend their evenings watching the panoramic view from this rock. There is a viewing tower equipped with telescope to see the heavenly view.
Child Seat
History: Some Natives believe that used to be the place where children used to play.This seat is also in the form of a rock in the form of a seat on the hills that overlooks the Salem town as well as the beautiful Curvy roads.
Gent's Seat
History :This seat is also in the form of a rock in the form of a seat on the hills that overlooks the Salem town as well as the beautiful Curvy roads. As the Natives say this used to be the place where the Gentlemen used to socialize [ you know party and all ;) .
Sri Rajarajeswari Temple :
History: This is Temple built in the year 1983 . One of the oldest temple in Yercadu . There is a Board which tells the history of temple , read it if you want to know more if not the Pundit is always available to say it ,provided you know Tamil.
Servaroyan Temple and Pagoda Point:
History: This Temple is located at Pagoda Point which happens to be the highest point in yercadu. It is a Cave in actual , it is said and believed that the Cave underground is around 350 KM and it ends /Opens in Mysore . No further information is available in that , if you come to know add it :) .
Pagoda point : this place is my Personal favorite, i simply love everything about it . Scenic beauty , heights , free space , and even there was a giant [ not so giant may be small ] wheel . If you love heights , you would surely love this place . The adrenaline rush which i can feel even now when i think about it , standing on the highest point and the wind just whispering in your ears " feel it" . It was lovely and awesome , and aww struck view.
Bear's Cave:
History : You really got to watch this point , this was my second favorite place. .This place is called so as earlier days during the 80's , the soldiers or the guards used to be posted here to watch the beer , but why to eat the bear or to safe guard the people no one knows that :P .This place also has a history of Suicides . You would find lot of names scriblled all over that Tower , as well as fee carved in the trees and Rocks .Keeping all this apart , the scenic beauty is just incredible , its beautiful , the Green mountains sliding one above the another. Oh ! you just need to look at it, it's just Lovely. It is also believed to be a place abode by Lord Murgan or Karthik as you may call .On the way to this place you will watch and also smell the pepper , i tasted a 4 month old pepper as well and it was Hot , if you have cold just a small pepper would take it off
Perfumery:
There is dealer who makes Perfume, creams , edible items like nuts . He has been by default set by all the Hotels as place of intrest . He has good product , though proces are little high , but worth it.
Killyur Falls:
History :This is at a height of 3000 ft as people around say , though the water fall height is 27 m only . Best place to go for trekking in Yercadu , the curves are so very unpredictable , i had almost lost a breath as i slipped at a point, the path is very slippery at some point or other, but at the end we had good fun and experience . Take water bottle and Cold drink and you want to spend more time down there you better take something to eat as well. Again the view mid way is scary as well as awesome , its like " Oh Man am doing this ... i love my life " you can surely feel that happiness and excited . Bad part , you don't have water in the waterfalls , if you go during rain time chances of the water fall having water is more , so don't be disappointed if you don't find water in Killyur Falls. Have your Good Shoes on and be very care full as there are no Fence to protect you .
Yercaud Lake and Anna Park:
This is a small lake surrounded by gardens and lot of Bollywood, Tollywood and kollywood movies were shot here. :) :)
Botanical Garden :
IF you are too much into plants , you can go and watch out of lot of different species of Flowers and plants .
Over all this place is heaven for all the busy life of what we go throguh and a good weekend break . Try it , it's worth your time as well . This was my Second Visit , and even then the place is the same with lot of calmness and peace .
